We had the exact same problem. Regus referred us to paragraph 23 of the agreement in mice type. $100 per workstation for wear and tear and an additional 825 for a business continuation that we didn’t even use. Also, the deposit takes months to get back. We will never lease from Regus again.

Complaint at 30 S. Wacker in Chicago.

I am an at attorney on a tight budget with little time to deal with office-type issues, which is why I opted for the Regus Business Centers in Chicago. The ads are nice and show happy, content clients. What a lie! From slow/freezing internet/server issues to poorly trained staff and nasty management, I would not wish this work environment on anyone. The situation only got worse when construction began in the building (b/c the Merc left) and I requested Regus' assistance in enforcing the building agreement that no drilling or loud pounding take place between 8am - 5pm. Such noise made it difficult to conduct phone conferences and for clients to visit. Regus' solution: move to a new office in the Regus family ... nevermind that March is the BUSIEST and most maddening month for my type of law practice. I don't have time to move!

Today, while I informed Tara (30 S. Wacker manager) and Lynn (assistant manager) that I am extremely busy and do not have time to deal with the issue of moving offices due to the construction noise at the location, both nonetheless – and despite my request that they simply do their jobs and end the excessive noise - opted to ‘drop by’ to further discuss. As I reiterated my need to leave the office to get work done (and was in the process of packing up to go work at home), the conversation grew heated and I asked Lynn to leave (as she was the one who misrepresented that the construction noise would end on Friday of last week). Lynn then informed me (in Tara’s presence) that the office was “her office, too” and refused to leave. If this is the case, then what have I been paying for??? If I am not allowed a private (or even semi-private) space, then I do not think we are seeing eye-to-eye on the meaning of an office. I also did not appreciate Tara’s snarky comments that she “didn’t hear anything” while in the office and that “no other clients have complained.” Note ... that last one is a whopper (not at all true).

When the building inspector and police stopped by last week, the noises were audible – as they were when I sent each e-mail to Tara and Lynn documenting the noise. I experienced all of 15 minutes of quiet in the office since 9:15 am today, and then later when the noise subsided after 11:00 am when Tara and Lynn, uninvited, interrupted my work.

I am voicing dissatisfaction with the way construction noise complaints have been handled at this location and the general attitude and confrontational nature of the manager. I have made little progress speaking with persons from Regus on the phone lines and doubt I will make much progress until my lease is up in October.

I would not recommend Regus to another attorney – not after today.

This is complaint about Los Angeles (Regus/HQ) charged me extra services without consulting with me first to my card on file they wouldn't refund my money on my request and even says that I need to keep the services for 3 months!!!. They will try and sign you up for a long term contract which will bind you to their costly and ineffective service for what initially appears to be a discounted fee that will cost you greatly later. I never able to get in touch with a decent manager and its impossible to close the account once established. that was a big mistake to sign up with this guys and I lost lots of business because of them. Their system seem to be built on commissions to unsuccessful real estate agents so their is no interest in giving good service or long term relationship marketing but selling as high as possible. save yourself and go somewhere else.

Our company was opening a new office in Nashville, TN, and we had been searching for a small office space to accommodate our two employees. While doing research, we came across the Regus Group, offering us an all-inclusive package in one convenient monthly bill. This was an ideal plan for us. We began our relationship with Regus in October 2008, and after just one month, we were highly disappointed. We began seeing charges for services that were priced much higher than the area average. Getting in touch with the General Manager at that location was nearly impossible. Emails were sent and phone calls placed, and were not returned for days when there was an urgent need for a response. After being disappointed in so many ways, we decided to terminate our relationship with Regus, and move to the private sector where terms were a bit better, and the bills would be more manageable. We received our final bill from Regus, and saw charges that we never agreed to pay. Regus wanted to charge us a “Business Continuation” fee, which, when looking over the T&C, there was nothing specified that we would be charged for something like that. We had no qualms about paying an exit fee, as this is standard, but we were charged an exorbitant amount. While we could have paid a cleaning service somewhere in the amount of $75.00 to clean the office, Regus charged us more than double that price. We felt really let down by Regus, and will never do business with them again, nor refer anyone to their offices.

Regus is crooked and dishonest and you should never sign with them. They sell you on the flexibility and in all in one package that will save you money. They use a terms and conditions she in microscopic print that contains things like an "automatic renewal". Regus is dispicable and I suspect very soon they will face a class action lawsuit for their shady ways. The use low cost uneducated people to answer the phone that are far from professional. They will never follow up with you near renewal hoping you will miss the automatic renewal and be forced into a whole new term. NEVER, EVER use Regus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MARK DIXON - CEO OF THE REGUS GROUP IS THE BIGGEST SCAM ARTIST ACROSS THE GLOBE!

It has been reported through various reliable sources and ex-Regus clients that the REGUS GROUP/HQ MANAGEMENT GROUP is under criminal investigation for fraud, stealing of clients funds, non-delivery of services and falsification of documents.

Should you consider using their office services THINK TWICE before you part with your money. These international scam artists will do EVERYTHING not to deliver their services after they collected your payments.

It further appears that the Regus Group will be filing for bankruptcy very soon, due to the fact that thousands of customer payments have been collected but clients have not seen any professional services in return.

Their global network looks at the first glance impressive, however the “small prints” in their contracts are so clever written that even if they do NOT deliver the office services as contractually agreed on, the client is left ‘hanging in the air’ without any possibility to receive his money refunded.

The Regus managers “in charge” are suddenly “un-available” to solve any problems and the client is “dragged over the floor” for months with “excuse letters” but no improvement of service takes place. Cancellation of contracts are simply “ignored” and requests refunds due to breach of contract by the Regus Group are ignored too.

Instead the client receives invoices for services he never ever ordered or signed for. Or invoices are sent from the Regus Group, which are dated months before the service contract was even signed. This is outright fraud and the therefore this scam operation must be stopped immediately.

DO NOT PAY THEM ANY MONEY IF YOU DON’T WISH TO BE THE NEXT VICTIM. THERE ARE FAR MORE PROFESSIONAL COMPANIES OUT THERE WHO WILL GLADLY OFFER YOU THEIR SERVICES AND THEY DO DELIVER!

IF YOU HAVE EVER DEALT WITH REGUS AND YOU FEEL THAT YOU ARE A VICTIM TOO, please contact our Investigative Journalist Team.

THE REGUS GROUP IS A 100% SCAM OPERATION!!! - HERE IS WHAT OTHER CLIENTS AND EX-EMPLOYEES ARE SAYING ABOUT THE REGUS GROUP! STAY AWAY FROM THESE SCAM ARTISTS!

I can confirmed the validity to the previous post, every single word is true. My lease ended 10/31/2008 and in the last week I recieved and invoice from Regus (Indianapolis, In.) for $850.00 of whch there was no listing or breakdown of why I was receiving this invoice...Just a single unidentified dollar amount. When I called the office, Ispoke with the billing person who did a very poor job of helping me identify the full breakdown of the invoice. After concerted effort I was able to identify phone, mail, covered the fees over a 3 month tranistionary fee...Upon further complaint, the general manager called me today and of course reminded me that this transitionary fee is well represented in my contract that I signed 12 months ago. And of course I contend that at no time in dealling with the office manager at the initial signage of the contract or my exit conversations did this transitionary fee be expressed of discussed to me which I find non-discloser a fraudulant act and places Regus in my opinion as a SCAMMER...I plan to pursue this to and end and want all to know that Regus in my cased misrepresented their contract and service.

I think the Regus people are all talk and all sleeze. I had an office at Regus on Rt 128 near Boston. My company paid a lot for it, but i needed a place to work away from two small kids in between sales travel.
Thru word of mouht I found another executive suites, Highland-March, in Westborough. I really liked th e space and the peaople there a lot and it was much closer to home, so i put in my 3 month notice at Regus. I began working out of Highland-March right away on a day-to-day basis. The staff there was fabulous and the price was almost half of what Regus charged. Really top-notch people.
So here's the catch: I hadn't shown up at Regus for about 5 weeks, but I still had 6 weeks to go on my contract and my comapny was still paying the (outrageous) monthly fees. Well, I go to my office, unlock the door--and there is someone else working there!! They had taken all my stuff and put it in boxes in storage there, and sold my office right out from underneath me--and I was still paying for it!
I will never-ever use Regus again.

Does anyone know if you sign an agreement with Regus and your company goes bankrupt, can they come after you personally? I realize that any responses should be validated by an attorney, etc.

I re-newed my Regus deal 8 months ago after a 6 month contract, then the economy drove my business into the duldrums. I gave notice in February that I was going to vacate and vacated in March. I paid March rent but sent in 2 secret shoppers in late March. They were NOT shown my space. I am a sole proprietor and the agreement was signed in the company's name and written in the company's name. There is NO personal gurarantee on the agreement. I offered them a 75% buyout and they said no. Anybody else experience anything like this?

We moved into Regus HQ in Tulsa, OK in Nov. 2006. The whole time we rented our office space there they seemed to come up with misc. charges for all kinds of things. When we moved out they charged us $2000 and they couldn't tell us what all the charges were even for! And then put a late charge on our bill while they were taking forever to research what our charges were. Here we are, 5 months after we moved out, and we just received ANOTHER invoice for postage and supplies from our "Business Continuation" fee that we were unaware of when we signed the contract. This is a charge for them to forward your mail (You don't have a choice, all the mail that comes is listed as one suite, so you can't intercept @ the post office) not only do they charge to forward your mail, they charge YOU for the postage and supplies that they use. Now we are paying $200 on a $35 postage charge because they slapped two late fees after not billing us on time. Oh, did I mention, it's 5 months later and we haven't received our deposit back from when we moved in?? I would NEVER recommend Regus/HQ to anyone.

THIS POST IF FROM AN EX-EMPLOYEE OF THE REGUS GROUP/HQ MANAGEMENT GROUP. IF THIS IS NOT ENOUGH WARNING FOR ANY CLIENT TO STAY AWAY FROM THESE SCAM OPERATORS, THEN WE DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS…?

I used to work for Regus and I have to concur that unfortunately, what is written above is true. Please know that with the economy turning, the pressure on managers to gloss over key areas of the contract and then hide behind the fine print will increase. Previously, managers were allowed to discuss those fees. Most did, some did not. The explosion of complaints, I believe, is a direct result of the pressure they are now feeling to sell at any cost - customers be danged. Once you're in you're in and that is the stance that the company will take. I left after years with this company when I finally got tired of fighting against such practices, as have many other managers in the last 8-12 months. Sadly, many of the people who put customers first are no longer there. go to careerbuilder - they can't hire people fast enough to stop the bleeding. I count myself as one of the lucky ones having left early enough to escape the new initiatives that severely reduce incentives, encourage infighting and poor customer management. This company had the potential to be great but is being driven into the ground by fear and greed. If you need to sign a contract with a Regus/HQ building, please read the contract thoroughly and ASK ABOUT EVERY SINGLE FEE LISTED AND EVERY DEADLINE FOR RENEWAL. It appears more likely than not from the comments above that they will not review it and you will certainly end up paying for it. HQ was a great company once. It's sad to see what it's become.

Regus asked for nearly $3600 in security deposit for a 3 month contract. Mark Green, the incompetent manager at 5 Penn Plaza assured me that every single penny would be returned. In mid-March, I upgraded my office from a $1200/month room to $2100/month room. During my upgrade, Mark Green told me that he would waive any fees associated with the upgrade.

To my surprise, I received a $2400 bill for the month of March (I expected to receive a $1650 bill since I moved mid-march). I asked Mark Green what had happened. He told me that he wasn't sure, but that he had spent two hours last night adjusting my bill – the nightmare had begun.

When Mark Green was unable to resolve my bill on April (after coming back with many excuses that he didn't have time to look over my bill), I told him that since my 3 month contract would come to an end on May 1st, I was prepared to leave if he cannot deal with my bill.

Mark Green, frustrated at his lack of understanding of his own company's billing system, delegated his duty to Cathy DeFrenza, another manager who didn't understand her own company's billing system. Cathy assured me that she was prepared to resolve my bill that same day. I was very happy to hear that.

Of course, Cathy disappeared. She was on jury duty for over two weeks. After contacting Mark Green to ask what had happened, I was repeatedly told that Cathy would give me a call. Cathy never did. On June 1st, Mark Green told me that he was no longer in charge of my bill and that the responsibility had been elevated to Regus corporate headquarter.

I called Regus corporate headquarter and another employee who had no idea why Mark Green had forwarded this information answered my call. She informed me that I was being charged a $1000 business continuation fee and that my security deposit will not be returned until I've resolved my account. There was no hope left. I had no one to speak to about my overcharged bill on the month of March. Regus also charged me $300 wear and tear fee for an office I had used for three months. The office was practically brand new when I left

So here's my advice: don't go to Regus if you want an honest billing system. I found that there are much better offices with windows (mine had none). If you put in $3600 security deposit, know that you will probably get $1000 back or NOTHING AT ALL.

I confirm this as well. I was a fool and signed two agreements with them. The first was for an office for $600 a month. *I never paid less than $1200* for that lease. At the end, I was hit with an $800 virtual continuation feel. I then really needed an office for reasons that don’t matter, so I signed a 3 month contract for $205 a month for basically a broom closet. It turned into a 4 month contract because they don’t count partial months as part of the terms and of course I never paid less than $525 a month for that lease. I had to extend it once and of course went for an extra 4 months instead of three. Well, After the 5th month I moved to a more traditional office and figured I'd just cancel the extra phone and internet charges and just eat the $205 fee for the rest of the lease. They told me that I couldn’t cancel the phone or internet and it was in my contact! I was so disgusted I haven't even looked at the contract again to see what rabbit they're pulling out of their hat (like the virtual continuation). I figured the hell with them and I’ll never ever do business with them again.

OH! My lease is paid via credit card. Well, last month (my LAST month w/ them ever, thank god), my credit card was declined. They charged me a credit card declined fee!!! hahaha have you ever heard of such things!! These people have some nerve to say the least.

HQ Global Workplaces/Regus Group Complaints –
Fraud, Employee Theft of Identity

HQ Global Workplaces/Regus Group

Fraud, Employee Theft of Identity

I recently returned from my military mission in Iraq as one of the thousands USA soldiers and thankful to be joined again with my family, but worried about how I would support them. I borrowed $1350 from a loved one and then went to add the funds to my bank account. Within minutes, I discovered that a company named HQ Global Workplaces had charged my account $326.00. When I called my card company to inquire and dispute the charges, they suggested I first call the merchant. When I called the merchant (HQ Global Workplaces) they informed me that they had charged my card because someone using a different name other than mine, had ordered some type of virtual office service. They refused to refund the money to my card even though I told them that I was not the one who made the transactions. I offered them proof of my identity and even offered to send them a photocopy of my id and my credit card to show that the name on my card is not the name that was used to make the transaction. I also offered to provide them with I had just returned from the military and could not have possibly made the transaction. I will unfortunately have to spend more time and money in taking them to court 'but in the meantime, I still am out of $1350 and my rent is due.

Regus / Office Rental Complaints - Bait and switch

Regus / Office Rental

Bait and switch

Prior to signing of my contract with Regus, Mark Sinclair (General Manager) assured me there would not be any additional fees/hidden fees. I was informed by a competitor that Regus had hidden fees and not to go with them during my research of finding a temp office space. My contract was for 3 months. During the last week of my contract I emailed and personally asked the Operations manager, Marybeth Catinella if I had to sign, review, final walk through, and anything else prior to my last date so that I do not get any other charges then what I have already paid. Marybeth Catinella said "dont worry about it, everything is fine" and that I should receive my deposit in 30 days. On the 30th day I receive an invoice for $1032.50. After further research I found out the contract had a clause with NO FEE SCHEDULE about "continuing business" setup. I asked Mark Sinclair about the fee and he just email replying "I just received word back from my boss that Regus cannot waive the business continuity charges that are outlined in section 23 of the terms and conditions of the service agreement."
I'm a small business owner. Every dollar matters! I received a PROMISE from the General Manager assuring me there will be no other fee then the $600 per month and assured me his competitor was lying. When I asked the Operations Manager if I needed to do anything to assure my full deposit with no other charges, she stated "dont worry about it, everything is fine".
I should have ended my contract when I received my 1st invoice with a higher agreed fee of $600 BUT again I was sold by the General Manager, Mark Sinclair.
I am very upset that I was deceived and not told all the information by the General Manager and the Operations Manager (Mark Sinclair and Marybeth Catinell).
I want to warn others of Regus's hidden fees and bait and switch sales tactic.

When it comes to account & invoices Regus is great cheaters. They send us 2 invoices which we were not supposed to pay as part of our offer. By the time we realized that we had paid in excess, we contacted the branch center and he was mentioning that he cannot reimburse it, but he can extend and consider the payment for the next 2 months. Infact our term is over but according to some clause they extended for another 1 year adn breakage will cause heavy penalties. So beware of dealing with regus - be careful with all invoices and signing any agreements with Regus.

I absolutely share the frustration of all of you. We took the Regus office in India - Chennai - Citi Center and as most of you have sited, the automatic renewal of the contract or binding clause, of you cannot give notice to terminate was not discussed through out the intial discussions. And to top it, they have EXTREMELY POOR SERVICE, the way complaints are handled, could drive any sane person histeric. They would ingore the client, as if they dont exist, except ofcourse when its time to pay the bills. Even, if you threaten to vacate the office, they care a damn, and infact the the management, wickedly smiled and said, it none of their problem, the client is bind to the contract and none of the services are terminable if once taken.

This is ridiculous, and they refer to the microscopic terms and conditions, which they never discussed through out the pre-contract time and also, they continue to fool the clients, but not higlighting the "automatic renewal" of the contract.

Regus, though it boasts of providing world class services across many countries, i could clearly see, be in India or australia or America, its unanimously unprofessional.

I would NEVER RECOMMEND REGUS TO ANYONE. We are bound to the contract for 9 months and prefer working from home, rather than regus to avoid the unpleasant and un professional behaviours of the REGUS Management.

I would specifically like to name the center head's name : ANDRE UNGER, who's always giving excuses for not meeting the time lines promised, and should be awarded the most inefficient and unprofessional center head!!!

If this is how Regus treats customers globally, their doomsday isnt too far for sure.

Anonymous said...

I have had similar bad experiences with them here in Mumbai, India. Their service is pathetic and all complaints fall on deaf ears. They just don't care about customer service. There is also a very low probability of getting your deposit back in full. I am currently in a dispute with them and there is a chance that I will be dragging them to the courts here in India.

Slightly off topic but Regus offices are extensively used by boiler room share scams. Complaints have not been answered. A boiler room is a cold call scam that sells worthless shares to people, many pensioners have list their life savings to such scams. In particular addresses in Switzerland are commonly used see Twitter.com/sharescams

Hi there!
I would like to burn a theme at this forum. There is such a nicey, called HYIP, or High Yield Investment Program. It reminds of ponzy-like structure, but in rare cases one may happen to meet a company that really pays up to 2% daily not on invested money, but from real profits.

For quite a long time, I earn money with the help of these programs.
I don't have problems with money now, but there are heights that must be conquered . I get now up to 2G a day , and my first investment was 500 dollars only.
Right now, I managed to catch a guaranteed variant to make a sharp rise . Visit my blog to get additional info.

Good day, sun shines!
There have been times of hardship when I didn't know about opportunities of getting high yields on investments. I was a dump and downright stupid person.
I have never thought that there weren't any need in big starting capital.
Now, I'm happy and lucky , I begin to get real income.
It gets down to choose a proper partner who utilizes your funds in a right way - that is incorporate it in real business, parts and divides the income with me.

You may get interested, if there are such firms? I'm obliged to answer the truth, YES, there are. Please get to know about one of them:

As an employee of Regus/HQ, I can completely understand all of these complaints.

I am in sales and specifically point out these "hidden" terms to my prospective clients in advance. Each person knows about the autorenewal, notification period required to terminate, Exit Virtual Office & exit wear and tear fees, late payment penalties and renewal increases. If anything needs to be addressed or changed, we can do it at that time.

I personally cannot sleep at night knowing that I don't cover these items prior to someone signing up.

I truly feel your pain and just want you to know that there are some good Regus employees out there that do look out for the customer's best interest.

I worked for HQ/Regus for nine years and I sympathize with many of you on here.

I’ll give a little background. I originally worked for HQ Global for the first half of my career in this industry. HQ was a wonderful company to work for. I was a General Manager (I think they’re now called Center Managers) at a center (and held other positions throughout my career there) and basically what happened was, at the beginning of every year we were given a budget and told to make it happen. If we needed help we would call our superiors for help, otherwise we were pretty much left to run the centers as we wished. While working for HQ, we knew the tactics of Regus and often we would have clients come to HQ from Regus because of some of the things people mention on here. During those years I absolutely loved my job.

Then Regus purchased HQ. At first, not much changed. Then, slowly but surely, we had to start adopting the policies and procedures of Regus. This was extremely difficult because we went from a bottom-up (HQ) to a top-down (Regus) organization. All the decisions came from the top, you either followed the rules, or you got out. Unfortunately I stayed for several more years. In retrospect, I should have gotten out a long time before.

The main concerns of those posting on here are: Business Continuation and Wear and Tear fees, are in fact in every agreement (yes, in fine print). When I would sign agreements with my clients I would highlight those sections before a client signed because I had so many clients get angry about these charges. Keep in mind, I had no choice but to charge them, none of the managers in any of the centers have any decision as to whether to charge them or not. Also, managers are told that these fees cannot be waived under any conditions. This is one of those top-down decisions. As for the sales associates, they are under huge pressure to close deals no matter what. Typically the sales people will not let themselves get tied down with the Terms and Conditions of the Agreement, that’s left to the General (Center) Manager.

Sometimes wear and tear fees are justified, but more often than not, it’s just extra money in Regus’ pocket. Security deposits, generally take 45 days to refund, but Regus will not refund deposits until the balance on your account is zero. Additionally, they will tack on late fees to every invoice after the 5th of each month without question – whether you dispute charges or not (also in the fine print of your agreement).

Regus is a true shame. I could have easily have had a life-long career with Regus, but it’s managed so poorly that I could not stay any longer. The concept is brilliant and works, and can work very well, for many types of industries. The problem is, upper management (from Mark Dixon, Guillermo Rottman, and others at the top) is so greedy and has no clue about how a center is run. Furthermore, Regus has lost, and will continue to lose, talented people because of their business practices. It’s such a shame because Regus really could be a great company, they just have no morals.

To,
The Regus Head Office,

Kind Attn. : Andrew Brown, Group Communications Director, T. +44 (0) 1932 796284 +44 (0) 1932 796284 ; M. +44 (0) 7721 513777 +44 (0) 7721 513777

Regarding : Complaint about Regus Delhi Office.

Dear Sir/Madam,

We had good experience in having relationship with Regus USA.
We start to use the services in New Delhi India from September 01, 2009 where since beginning we are having problems. The people working at Regust, Jasola Office are totally unaware about Regus's service culture, very prompt to ask money without providing any service.

We would like to submit as follows:--

1. Two Month Free Service:
Without giving us dedicated tel no.fax no. the Delhi office has started the service from September First 2009. They inform our tel/fax no. only in October, 2009. There is a need to recorrect the service contract and paid service should start from Nov.2009 and keep October as free.
Second month service will be given at the end of the contract.
2. No records of call/fax :-As per our request we asked Regus New Delhi to send us caller/fax details by email as the undersigned always travelling, the Delhi office never informed by email. infect they dial my overseas no. They never keep any person to answer the call, pl. call this no. 011-4060 1415
3. Never Honored their Promise:- It is a fact that due to my regular continuous stay in USA, I am not able to use the Regust New Delhi, so I requested to freeze/suspend for 3 months. They confirmed and asked the payment of Jan/Feb 2010, but after I paid the money they refused to freeze and suspend. (enclosed the copies of email)

We, therefore, have no other option but to discontinue based on ABOVE EXPLAINED reasons. No service, no email from Regus Delhi, since beginning they are not answering our telephones. most of Indian clients never leave any message in voice mail like western countries. Regus Delhi is only interested to charge money without providing their servicers. The customers are cheated due to Regus Brand but there is no commitment for services like Regus Global.

We are totally frustrated with regus New Delhi since very beginning, instead of extending good service, keeping their promise for freezing account, they just trying to forfeit our deposit, which shows that they are not interested to give services and they are not efficient to give services.

I started my venture in October 2009 and was searching for a small office location. Regus being a multinational with good infrastructure in Gurgaon in India and I opted for Platinum Card with unlimited office use till 31 December 2009 and then a 3seater office starting January 2010 for a period of 6 months.
A friendly sales person executed the agreements stating that there are no hidden costs except a nominal exit fee for three seater office. We had the same room with Platinum card that was to be occupied by us starting January 2010. I was asked to pay a 3month retainer for a 6 month contract. The nightmare started in the month of October 2009 itself.

Very poor service from Regus. Most of the times coffee machine is out of order, water glasses were replaced with low quality plastic cups even for guests. I being diabetic need sweetener and they replenish the same once a week and its over in 2 days. Many a day’s coffee is out of stock.
I used to receive 20-30 calls per day on their phone in the name of the previous occupier of that office. When I requested them to change the extension # of the phone, they asked for a charge to do the same. The Internet speed was very slow.
I was charged a renovation fee for the same room from where I was operating for the last 2-3 months with no renovation at all. Then I was charged an office set up fee for that very same office. Worst, they charged me a Internet & telephone set up fee with same Net connection and same telephone extension #. Please note that at that time I was the only person in the company using the office with others yet to be recruited.
We work with large IT firms and our plan is dependent on their forecast. Due to the recession, our customers had to revise their forecast and that impacted our plans as well. With the initial plan to have three people from 1 January 2010, I had to readjust the recruitment to March 2010. I requested the management at the centre to assist us by redefining the contract with a win-win for both of us. Blunt refusal was the answer. Even writing to their Managing Director was of no use. He never responded to our email communication. We had our second employee joining us in March 2010 and the third would join by 17th of this month. And we have been forced to pay for 3 seats from January to June 2010.
The woes did not end here. When our second employee joined in March 2010, we were again invoiced for an office set up fee with no additional telephone line or Internet connection. They said that the office set up fee is per seat and not per office. And then the next issue, the cupboard was per office and not per seat. Please note that the demo office has one cupboard per seat.
I thank an anonymous person who made me aware of the concept of auto renewal. Thank to him that I wrote to them for auto renewal. Meanwhile, three months before the termination of the contract, Regus gave me a renewal offer with a hike of 30%, which obviously I rejected and opted to vacate the office on termination.
In April 2010, I asked them to adjust the May & June rentals and the other expenses against the retainer fee and pay me the balance when we vacate the premises. They simply refused that it is against Regus policy.
Last week, I received an invoice indicating an office restoration fee of an amount three times the amount that was mentioned by the sales person. It also includes a Business Continuity Fee equivalent to 1/3 of the monthly rental. They say it is bundled into your contract but the contract does not say it is mandatory and chargeable.
When we inquired about the refund of the retainer fee, they do not respond with any timeline and state that the retainer fee will be refunded as per Regus policy and that does not exist. In absence of clear refund policy and refusal to adjust the rental against the retainer, we mentioned holding all invoices. They threaten to charge penalty & take legal action against us.
We are a start up and costs & cash flow are critical for us. Can someone guide us on how to recover our money from Regus?

My company, Fareed Zapala Koepke, occupies Regus HQ offices in both Orlando, FL and Dublin, Ireland. We have been in the offices for several years. We've been relatively pleased despite the incredibly high turnover in staff and management, and general lack of maintenance and cleanliness. However, when it came time for us to renew our lease this year, they increased the rate by 35%. We were told we had negotiated too good of a deal the year before and that corporate is demanding the increase. Needless to say, with commercial occupancies in Orlando and Dublin at record lows, we opted to move out. This is when we learned of all the tiny print on the back of our lease -- seems we committed to an additional three months of phone answering and mail forwarding service, as well as other move-out expenses that never got explained during the 'sales process'. Also seems they are very displeased with us, as they managed to slip in new monthly recurring charges this month of $998.00 -- without notice or explanation.

All in all, I would recommend that any professional or entrepreneur seek an alternative office situation. There are simply too many offerings today. Don't settle for the unprofessionalism of Regus HQ.

As many others, we have fallen victim of Regus rental offices in the UK. We have spoken with the Office of Fair Trading and the Trading Standards but they don’t seem to recognise how big the problem is. If we unite our voices, we can put our cases to the Office of Fair Trading, our Mps and who ever care about business in this country. If you agree and would like to do something, contact us on enquiry@consultantline.co.uk

I rented regus Office at Covent Garden, London Oct 2009, When I was going to renew the lease, they increased moren than 60% of the rent. So I decided to move out, but i received one invoice charge me £232 per month for the so called Business Continuity Service which I don't need. They charged my company by saying I used this address before, so there is mails, tel or fax coming to their address. It is compulsoty service I have to take. I tried to contact their customer service, nobody came back to me. I will never rent Regus Office again.

MEMO FROM A REGUS EX EMPLOYEE!

Where do I start? Regus is not only a company that treats its clients horribly, it's also a company that could care less about its employees. The company doesn't care about the fact employees have lives outside of work. For example: In Feb 2010, we were told there were so many accounts to be worked on that we couldn't leave until the job was done. My 8 hour shift turned into a 16 hour shift. All of us were allowed to go home at MIDNIGHT! This happened TWICE before the s**t hit the fan and they suddenly realized we wouldn't be putting up with this anymore.

All of the other postings on this site are correct: STAY AWAY FROM REGUS! Do not do business with Regus EVER! I worked in the collections dept and found that the sales dept would lie to customers just to make a sale and we were left trying to mop up the mess. Even after trying to help customers, the managers wouldn't ever follow up and make sure the problems were solved.

I saw accounts that were "past due" more than 18 MONTHS only to find that the customer had cancelled their services and really didn't owe anything. The problem was that the customer service dept wasn't processing cancellation requests, so the clients just kept getting billed over and over and over! This is still happening as we speak!

The regional service center in Addison TX is headed up by a bimbo named Lavonia and another gal named Melinda who looks like the goodyear blimp with Ronald McDonald hair! Between the two of them, they can't seem to figure out how to improve things at Regus, and apparently Mark Dixon (CEO) could care less.

If you're looking for wonderful office space for your business, REGUS ISN'T THE PLACE. Search for competitors and invest your hard earned dollars elsewhere. You'll be glad you did!

Hi All,
I have a very similar horrifying experience to all of yours.
I began my virtual office contract 6 months ago for 1 year period. Now after a lot of hassle & ex exceptionally bad service I want to cancel it immediately. The problem is that the sales manager never told me that this is a binding contract for 1 year. All he said was that 1 year contract will ensure that any rate increase or change would not affect me for 1 whole year. This lured me in. But never was it mentioned that I would be bound to pay for 1 year without exiting the contract.
I have a nominal deposit with Regus.

I WANT TO KNOW FROM YOU GUYS IF I CAN JUST WALK AWAY WITHOUT PAYING FOR THE NEXT 6 MONTHS. I CAN LET THEM KEEP MY DEPOSIT. I DONT CARE! I DO NOT NEED THEIR SERVICES ANYWAYS. I JUST DONT WANT TO HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THEM. HOW DO THEY PURSUE THIS ?

I work for Regus, leaving soon though can't wait! They are shit, horrible to their staff and clients. Only use them as a last resort!!

Anonymous said...

Does the company drug test their new employees?

Anonymous said...

I am a former Regus Center Manager. Every comment posted here is the absolute truth. When I first started with the company it was nothing like the way it is now.

Clients and employees alike are totally expendable in their eyes. They tell the staff about how bad the economy is yet the higher ups are buying condos, yachts etc. The employees have not had raises in 3 years, salary cuts, commission and bonus cuts, they dropped the 401k contribiutions.

The staff is supposed to dress in suits and then move furniture that weights anywhere from 80 to 100 pounds with no equipment, training, or safety factor taken into account. I have seen desks land on feet, backs get pulled and the company does not care.

Don't rent from them and don't go to work for them!

I have experienced the same kind of relationship above with Regus as others have experienced. They have been a crap service, at best, for me.

Anonymous said...

To share my fair share of frustration with Regus, I would like to inform all of you that I have been ripped by them not in one but two states. That is what I call a double dip. Well, after reading many posts on this blog, I am determined to file a lawsuit against Regus. A hard copy of this blog would come in very handy clarifying some of the issues I am having with them.

AnaSkies said...

Regus is the absolute worst. So many hidden charges and crap service. Now we have finally left yesterday and ask them if any mail arrive today as the redirection from post office takes a couple of days.
They told us they will not let us know or give us our mail as we did not pay $700 for the redirect service!!! We have paid all our bills for the one year we were there. And this is what we get. Worst service ever!
Don't go there.

Anonymous said...

They suddenly raised the price with 125% for at least 5 companies, including mine. First 1-2 years it's cheap, but in the 3th or 4th year they try to squeeze you. Very hard, commercial management.

HELP please!
In reading all your posts I realize that my experience with Regus is typical and not an isolated occurrence.
Originally I signed up for 12 months virtual services under an LLC. The venture never took off and while we never used services we paid. In this economy it was apparent we could not make a go of it and we cancelled services 2 months to the end of contract.
Regus is pursuing me personally for the two months plus service fees I never agreed to. Can someone tell me if they can come after me personally although I've not given any personal guarantee?
Please someone advice. My email is mtassette@yahoo.com

Regus took advantage of another business person. My complete experience with Regus was bad. They had a bad attitude, charged outrageous fees for everything then when you do get away from them they continue to charge $200. per month for three months to forward your mail even though they don't receive one thing in the mail. After charging $1400. per month for a tiny one desk unit for 2 years, they charged me a $300. restoration fee on a office I left spotlessly clean. Very ugly company to work with. Stay clear of these guys. They have all kinds of tricks up their sleeves.

The Regus model is such a great idea -- help small businesses by consolidating services. However, when my company took space from Regus, it was not long before I saw the problems and the shortcomings. Fortunately, I had the experience to exercise a few important business protection steps: 1. Never ever rely on a management group to protect your interests -- be aware of renewal and notice times and exercise them. 2. Never ever leave a deposit with a landlord until the lease is complete -- If you pay two months rent in advance, deduct that from the final two months or whatever the contract says. 3. As demonstrated here, do an Internet search on a party before doing business with them. There is always somebody who has a complaint, but when you read as many complaints as you see in this long list, take the hint and stay away. This last step is the only one I did not do and I regret it.

I am an employee in the US and apparently signed an agreement when I first started with Regus that restricts me from approaching a tenant for employment. I do not have a copy. Anyone else have this verbiage?

Thanks

Regus rip off businesses. This is what I wrote to Regus Senior management and waiting for them to come back to me.

This is GSA and I am one of your clients at Level-27, Rialto Towers, 525 Collins Street, Melbourne, Australia-3000. I am writing this letter to you because I didn’t have any other options left. I have become victim of harassment and has been humiliated and threatened by one of you employee by name of Rachel Clarkson (Centre Manager) in Melbourne, Australia.
I am planning to this matter further to Department of Consumer Affairs Victoria but I thought that I will talk to someone superior from Regus itself and see if someone else can help me before I take any other step further.
Just to cut long story short. I downsized my company from 3 rooms’ office to one big room office because of business fluctuation. My lease with Regus got renewed for November 2010, December 2010 and January 2011. In December 2010 I went to USA for business purpose and before I left Australia I cleared all of my pending accounts with Regus and paid whatever was outstanding till November 2010. But I didn’t pay for Dec 2010 as there were few issues with charges and credits but with the help of Nisheh Ali (Centre Manager ) her senior Rober Okulus helped us out and worked with us to fix up accounts, eventually accounts with Regurs were cleared and closed till November 2010.
After coming back to Melbourne from my trip in the start of February, I asked Breanna Sheahan (customer service rep at Rialto towers, Melbourne, Australia) that who and where is the acting manager as I have to fix up my pending payments, and Breanna Sheahan told me that there will be a new manager coming in few days, so she asked me to wait.
Few days later I saw Rachel Clarkson sitting at reception and as soon as I said Hi to Rachel Clarkson, she right away told me that you have to pay Au $9000 (that included Oct 2010 and Nov 2010, that I cleared before I went overseas) which is owing on your account and I will cut off your internet/phone service by today if you will not clear the accounts by today itself. The way she answered was so rude that I almost had panic attack and my blood pressure went very low and I quickly had to drink a cup of coffee after the discussion with Rachel Clarkson as they way she said everything was very disrespectful and intimidating, even a front desk attendant from a local coffee shop would have better manners to talk to clients. Unlike the last manager I dealt with, because of pending payment she didn’t try to call my number, never left any voice mail, never knocked on my office door and never sent me an email in order to discuss why the payment is pending and if we can make some payment arrangement or payment extension, all I received was invoices over the internet as if I am dealing with a machine. I never received any courtesy from her what so ever.

Anonymous said...

I told Rachel Clarkson that I am happy to pay whatever I owe by today itself but I want a final amount for all the pending invoices and everything has to be finalised as I already paid till Nov 2010 before I left for overseas. So I don’t want to pay twice for the same thing.
I clearly told Rachel that I have cleared Oct and Nov 2010 but she said that I can’t see it on my system and it means you didn’t pay anything so I have to cut your services down by today if you will not pay. I told her that I have all the paper work and emails that clearly proves that my account is all up to date with Regus till Nov 2010 and I do not owe Regus Au $9000.
She asked me to see Breanna Sheahan (customer service rep at Rialto towers, Melbourne, Australia) next day. I saw Breanna Sheahan and she showed me all the invoices starting from Oct 2010 till Feb 2010 and told me exactly same thing that Rachel Clarkson told me and after wasting so much of my time, Breanna Sheahan didn’t really show any interest as she was texting using her mobile at the same time she was looking into my accounts and finally Breanna Sheahan told me that she do not have any other information besides that because managers do keep update record of clients information and asked me to see Rachel Clarkson again and it all was such a waste of my time and I was very annoying. I was very frustrated, because I was ready to pay off all of my accounts but I wasn’t getting the right figures that I was supposed to pay and at the same time I was threatened with services disconnection and lockout.
Anyways, then I wrote an email to Rachel Clarkson which is also there at the bottom of this email for your reference, and told Rachel Clarkson that I need someone responsible or her to fix my accounts so that I could payout my pending accounts but neither she set up any time to catch up with me nor she bothered to reply back to my email.

Anonymous said...

Very next day, which is today (15-feb-2011) I received an email from Breanna Sheahan saying that she forwarded all the invoices to Rachel Clarkson and she will be taking care of it. Around 11:30am I saw Rachel Clarkson sitting at the rialto reception and I myself asked her if she can help me with my accounts, she told me that she can see me after 15 mins, so I came back to my office and then went back to Rachel Clarkson after 15 mins but she made me wait there for another 15 mins and didn’t even utter a word and told me to wait or to go but just kept on doing her work and that behaviour was unacceptable but I kept quiet. After I stood there for 15 mins, finally she took me to the conference room.
In the conference room she told me that the amount that I owe is less than $5000 and she told me that this amount includes charges for Oct-Nov 2011 and she have to charge me for OCT-NOV 2010 as there were human errors and she again threatened me that I have to pay off accounts till Feb 2011 by today otherwise she will disconnect my services by today and lock me out by tomorrow, even after I told her that there was no human error, where as a manager like you fixed all my accounts and gave me written proof that accounts are all paid and cleared until Nov 2010 and I also have written proof of everything on me. But she told me that she could come up with some charges from Oct, Nov, Dec, Jan and even February even after I pay all the accounts today. I told her that this is unfair and I should be given final figures that I need to pay and I should not be bothered after that for the same thing as you cannot keep coming back to me again and again even after I pay all the accounts and charging me by telling me that there could be some human errors in the finalised accounts in order to take your personal revenges and she should not be misusing powers that she has because of her position.

She shouldn’t be taking revenges at the work place by harassing clients; clients have rights to disagree if it will not be fair with clients as also have self respect and right to ask what they are paying for.
After I told Rachel Clarkson that I would like to talk to her superior regarding this matter then she took off Oct-Nov 2010 charges and fixed up extra charges for Dec2010, Jan and Feb 2011 and asked me to pay pending amount. I agreed to that and told Rachel Clarkson that I will pay the full amount by tomorrow and asked her to send me an email mentioning details of Dec 2010, Jan and Feb 2011 charges and stating that these are the final charges and she will not come back to me with the same account to tell me that there were some human errors and ask me to repay. But she did not agree to that and wanted me to pay the balance and again threatened me that she will lock me out as if I do not have any rights or as if I denied that I will not pay.
Now I am writing this letter/complaint to you as I am worried that even though I am ready to pay off my pending accounts, my services can be cut off anytime. The way Regus clients are getting dealt with is so unprofessional and is unacceptable. This kind of behaviour will eventually do huge loss to Regus as clients will keep on leaving Regus and start doing business with Regus’s competitors.
Looking forward that may be you will take care of this matter.

We, too, have been victimized by Regus. After 5+ years as a tenant at Regus at Highland Park Place in Dallas, we found that we needed to cut our expenses due to the economy. We told the center manager that we would be leaving at the end of our lease but she said we had to submit a 90 written notice, which we did. However, what we were not aware of was that while we were preparing our written notice, our contract had automatically been renewed for 6 more months. We had already rented new office space so we decided we would go ahead and move. When the center manager accepted our termination notice, she did not say anything about our lease being automatically extended.
Then Regus started renovations at the Highland Park Place location. As of April 7, 2010, there are no bathrooms on our floor (6th) We were told that this would be for a period of 6 to 8 weeks and during that time, everyone would be required to go to the 10th, 11th, or 12th floor to use the bathroom facilities. We were beseiged by construction workers, noise, and mess! We lost our kitchen facilities. (However, they finally did find a place to plug in the fridge.) We lost of conference rooms and we had people roaming the halls talking loudly.
Our new space was ready to we moved out before the end of the month! It was only then that we find out that we are not only obligated for rent until the end of August 2011, but we also are obligated to pay for internet, phone and fax lines, kitchen fees, and parking also until the end of August. They have not responded to any of our correspondence about returning our parking/access cards to at least get something off of our bills. We haven't even been able to get any copies of what they are claiming to be our last signed renewal/lease.
When we were presented with the last request for renewal, the document was NOT DATED. Nor was there any indication of what date this paper should be signed and turned. THERE WAS NO DATE REFERENCE AT ALL ON THE DOCUMENT.
We had numerous problems with the Internet which caused us serious problems with conducting our daily business. Also, the center closed for some of the most incredible holidays at their whim, which kept us from receiving any services on those days.
The one email we did receive from the center manager assumed that we weren't going to abide by our contract and that the center would not be accepting or re-directing any calls to us and that our mail would all be returned. We responded that we had already paid the rent (so far!)
When we first leased our space, this was not a Regus facility.
We had one excellent employee on the front desk. However, we cannot say the same for the rest of the staff.
In fact, once we turned in our 90 day notice, the staff held that they were allowed to come into our office at anytime to show our space, without advance notice. It didn't matter whether or not we were in the process of trying conduct business or having a confidential conversation. We were totally at their mercy. We are currently researching a legal remedy for problems with Regus.

Hello Support,

We are having a very bad experience with the internet service with Regus Business Center, Whitefield, Bangalore in last 8 months. I have requested for a backup connection or to change the internet service provider from Reliance to Airtel or any other good once.

I really don't find a interest from the Regus staffs and even from Regus IT managers. We are not only the company facing this problem, it is for all in this center. We are a paying customer and we never delay in payments. Then why the service is getting bad day by day.

We have cut down the internet bills for the downtime and still no body worries about that. We like to pay and get a good service. Definitely not like this. Please have some courtesy to reply back and escalate this issue to top management ASAP.

Regards,
Mohan

We have the same problem as others. We have paid all of our invoices right on time. But after we had canceled our agreement within 90 days, they send us an invoice with pending $2,600. We have send them the whole bunch of paperwork and copies of all checks. Now after more than one year, they come back with a stupid phone call and asked us to pay the money today. No written notice, no response since more than 15 months. Unbelievable!

Disgruntle former small business owner of Regus at Ravinia,GA
I am dissatisfied of their so-called business ethics
this company is a rip-off to all small business owners

I was told I owe after my lease agreement an additional $785 for months
to reserve mail, phone and wear and tear. I never saw any such information due to the fact
my agreement was not clear. Also, there was nothing in writing telling you the total amount of the bill
after your term ends. A company policy should be that you sign and agree for such terms and the amount
owed should be stated to you in writing of the exact amount owed front and back of the paper. If you decided, to agree with the terms.

I was lucky to get a new manager at the Ravinia location who refunded me $300 of the $785, but the process is still an ordeal.

This company is not fair and their customer service agents are not equipped to understand how to assist you.

I WILL NEVER REFER ANYONE TO THIS COMPANY

My lease termed 5/31/11 and I ended my contract in a timely manner.

Do Not sign an agreement with them.

Hi,

REGUS, PUNE - COMPLAINT

I have taken a Gold Membership of Regus. After asking the termination of service they are deducting the amount from my credit card.

Yesterday dt: 24 Aug 2011 i spoke with Mr. Gurjinder Singh Saini (Center Manager) about this issue and he said we have not charged any amount. I have provided him my credit card statement for proof.

After hearing all the issues Regus employees again deducted same amount on dt: 25th Aug. 2011

I have never seen such a BAD SERVICE.

Couldn't agree with some of these comments more. I have found Regus customer service to be appauling.

I asked to change my membership from Businessworld to Gold Card, plus have had issues of being overcharged for room bookings and my online account being set up wrongly so that I am unable to make bookings. Trying to sort these things out, I have spent many hours on the phone being passed from department to department, on what seems like a quest to waste my time rather than resolve my issues. One month on, none of my issues have yet been resolved.

Regus have precisely one more working day to solve all three of my issues, or I intend to give formal notice of termination of my contract.

I'm sure with customer service this bad I must be able to hold them in breach of contract and opt out early...

Our company deals with REGUS in Thailand and all the complaints posted are entirely consistent with my experience. Hidden fees in microscopic print that they enforce to the letter. Og course having the credit card guarantee gives them license to levy and collect fees that are neither authorised or required. You might think you have an exit when you provide 3 months termination IN WRITING, that's where your problems really start. You have (according to the Agreement) give 3months notice before the expiration of end date of the last invoice delivered. In our case, we gave 3 months termination notice on 04 July 2011, BUT the end date of the previous invoice was 7 months ending 31 August 2011, so they maintain their right to invoice for yet another 7 months from 01 September 2011. They collected their 7 months rent on 25 August 2011, and guess what,... the very next day they invoice a "Business Continuity Service Initial Fee" effective 01 April 2012 for 3 months, note they say ...... "Initial Fee" so God knows what they would invoice after.

My advice to anyone even contemplating using REGUS anywhere in the world is to :

1). Try anyone else other than REGUS, you'll regret you did down the track.

2). If you have to use REGUS, make sure the Centre manager explains the microscopic small print in the Agreement, it's vital for the sake of your own sanity.

3). If you have to use REGUS you'll be asked to supply a credit card number from which they make take fees. Make sure you have another credit card available in case you have to cancel your card from which REGUS fees may be deducted. This may be your only option in the end.

These guys have targets to meet and customer experience, satisfaction and care are not part of their corporate ethos once you've signed on the dotted line. Be warned by this and all the other complaints, do business with REGUS at your peril!!

Would be good to hear any other complaints from anyone that has used REGUS in Bangkok.

The company I work with has a long term setup with Regus. From day one it has been the single most unpleasant work environment I've ever had the misfortune to find myself in.

The bathrooms are consistently dirty and I have not seen the coffee machines cleaned once in over ten months.

The help have been downright hostile. I had the pleasure recently to be chewed out by the "Manager" for placing a spoon in the sink.

Stay away from Regus.

Please do not think it's different in South Africa.
They're such sweet angels when you signup my gosh. Like, where have such good people been hiding.
Wow, within a week I was HEAVILY threatened by some off-English foreigner about a debit order form which THEY didnt bother to notice.
Anyways Ive just been warned at the bankers to keep away from Regus by some guy who was struggling to shake them off his biz account.
Took out my microscope to read the VO smallprint. Every line was the OPPOSITE of what i was told. By the 10th line i long knew i should quit before much drama. Then they pulled out their automatic contract weapon. WTF is that??? Its the end of me and Regus thats what.
There are far more luxurious suites in uptown Durban run by serious entrepreneurs. 3x the price 50x the value. Ive followed him to 5* Royal Palm. Heaven, makes me forget all about automatic-contract payments.

i signed a 4 month lease. For starters the internet was ALWAYS down. i was being overcharged EVERY month 4-800 dollars. First month they double charged me for the rent. Second month they charged me for Internet setup fee (weird i had not moved and they had already set my internet when i moved in) then when i went to move out the told me i was 2 days late to notify them and that my lease had renewed. i came into the office on an 599 a month offer and last month was charged 3029 for services. Regus is a company build on theivery. i just hope some day some lawyer can clean their clock.

One thing you have to be careful about when dealing with Regus, is not to tender information that you could rely upon in your defence. They will approach you with language suggesting their intention to solve the problem. All they are doing is looking for your evidence so as to pre-empt your case and gain the upper hand. Postings on this blog reveal that Regus will do anything including lying in Court for money, providing they can get away with it. One is better off surprising them in the eyes of Court as against giving them information so that they can manipulate their response to leave you out of pocket. Once the dispute has arisen and your conscience tells you to walk, all you need to do is walk. Then wait for their prosection and expose their practices in open court. In this way, even if they win, Court record will be established and trend of behaviour identified for corporate fraud investigations. Overtime, one could revist their prosecution for payback time. Careful research will reveal that Banks also have difficulty accepting Regus direct-debits against clients.

If you have a business to run you do not need Regus.

Regus will make it your business to complain to them and in doing so they will send you bills to enrich themselves only to realise they are killing the goose that lays the golden eggs. They will kill your business.

Focus on your business, stay away from Regus.

Anonymous said...

If after reading all of the negative reviews here and other places, you still plan on using Regus, please do the following:
1. Read and understand what you are signing.
2. Beware of autorenewal dates and language
3. Do not rely on or accept any verbal statements.
4. Refer again to number one.

It is hard to like a company that operates the way regus does. Not every business you'll deal with is ethical. Regus is one of them. Do your own due dilligence. If you cannot do it, have an attorney look at the contract for you. You'll be glad you did.

Anonymous said...

Anonymous of 11 December gives good advice. Only that Regus will not sign hard documents or distribute documents that could be taken to the attorney. Agreements are signed online then sent by email. It is not uncommon that emailed documents are different than documents read and agreed online. What do you call this.

My advice is stay away from Regus. If you must please do not sign any document online. Get the hard copy first.

My firm has been a client with Regus in NYC for over 12 months and we have had not end of issues with the firm. The center manager is a Saint, but the backup behind him is appalling. Most notably, their Internet services are assailed with endless problems. It took them 8 months to sort out our internet so that it would work to the standard we were paying for.

We continue to have ongoing issues with their tech team. One recommendation I can make to any new client is to opt out of the internet service, have your own feed put into the building such as a T1 and run your own phone service. This way you are not trapped into them when you do eventually give up and leave!!

Unfortunately for all of us, their offices are generally full, and so they really see no reason to resolve their customer service issues.

I think a class action lawsuit should be filed against Regus. They charge late fees on top of late fees. They are a scam!!!

Untill I read this I was not aware that Regus are indeed a fraud. It is now months and I am still chasing return of my deposit. These people are running some form of fraudulent racket, taking money from people then giving them a run for their money. This is fraud. I am going to complain and report Regus to every public law enforcement body out there. I will also point authorities including fraud squad to this site to learn more about the scam Regus are running. This is not on. Regus are running a scam against the public.

Anonymous was unhappy.

Regus started out to be okay for the first few months, but there were charges that did not add up. My compnay previously terminated our lease in 2010 because of extras charges. The spaces that they were charging (87 square feet) was $780; unreal to believe. After the termination of the lease. There was charges that added up to $980 without our consent. Plus, Regus wanted to keep the deposit and continue to charge. We did write emails for a better tracking purposes and threaten ton report REGUS to the BBB and trade commissioner. Finaly, my company got the $980 dismissed and the deposit back. This is not a good experience for anyone that is trying to run a small business. The advise is to keep researching the private sector or local brokers to help find an affordable place without the complications. Good Luck if you decide to go with REGUS:(

THUMBS DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

If you have experienced suspicious practices at Regus report them at:-

http://www.actionfraud.police.uk

If Regus have agreed a service and this is different than that delivered, Police are interested. If they are making your relationship so difficult that you have to leave report this too. You could find that Regus do not own buildings and would prefer to make relationships difficult so that they have high customer turnover then collect payment on a breach they have caused.

If you have made payment and Regus have produced invoices to help them hold your deposit, the Police are interested too.

It may take time but they sure will act on it. Besides, frequency of complaints will attract attention and help ongoing investigations. You might find it difficult/expensive taking Regus to Court but, when the Police use your evidence in their prosecution you will help many others.

Refuse to accept fraud as a business model.

Report it straight away.

I have the same experience with Regus on the autorenewal of terms... and please advise how to do in uk. Is it true that I can report to police and go to the website http://www.actionfraud.police.uk

to report a fraud to the police?

What else we can do in uk to complain about such unfair terms and condition in relation to the auto-renewal terms on the contract imposed by Regus? Also the bad services provided by Regus in fact no services provided but prompt for payment and late penalty. What department we can go to in uk? Also what media or press we can report to?

My experience with Regus was dreadful. How are these crooks allowed to operate this scam globally? They are dishonest and not to be trusted. No small business should interact with them. Choose anyone else but them. In fact, the local thug on your corner would be better to entrust your mail and delivery service to, at least you always know where he is to get a response when needed. Regus does not respond to your needs, they only find ways to charge hidden fees and taxes. To all BEWARE.

You can be assured if there are boards with hundreds of complaints on the internet, there are thousands more clients who simply didn't take the time to post.

Attitude is top down, and that is the case in our dealings with Regus.

We use a virtual office, and every month, is a continual fight to watchdog the nickel and dime charges for postage, mailing charges, etc.. The charges are small, and why they are not itemized on the statement. They probably figure you won't take the time to argue.

Mail has been lost - with no concern or follow up - without our instant interjection. One time we had to physically go track the mail carriers to find our 'in limbo' mail with no return address.

We were most recently told to fill out a USPS form 1583 within 5 days or they would not accept our mail.

Never mind that it was THEIR SOP snafu that caused this. We had submitted the forms over a year ago, and nobody informed us whether it was correct or not. Now we have to drop everything to comply

It is not the form that is the problem, it is the treatment we were somehow responsible for some type of criminal behavior.

They COULD have asked first, or admitted to the fact that THEY screwed up, and then ask us for our help to get in compliance with the USPS rules.

Attitude, and how you talk to your customers is everything. It is missing here.

Regus is a scam. Our company paid a lot of money each month. It was credited on our company credit card each month. At the start of 2012, we were seeing the end of the road upon us as the real estate market in our community finally took a dive. We tried to hold on, but were not able to.

During April, we began to process the paperwork to dissolve our company. We immediately went through every company that we bought things through, such as phone, Internet, etc. Our virtual office with Regus term was going to end in May. We contacted them via phone to not automatically renew our agreement as we wanted to terminate it at the end of our current agreement. Our company credit card was closed down at the end of May and we were all off our separate ways.

Tracy from Regus called me asking for our June payment. I told her that we did not renew our yearly agreement. She said she had no record of it and that we had to pay for another year. I told her our situation but she must of been having a bad day because she didn't want to hear what had happened.

To make a long story short, they sent it to a collection agency for $540. I do not know where they got this number, but Tracy and her staff need to get it together.

Any thoughts on what to do?

Regus Ltd Scam Tenants in the UK. Regus Business Offices don't pay their rent ...

Today, 30.07.2012. Regus, 1000 Great West Rd, Brentford, Hounslow, Greater London TW8 8, UK Regus customers are locked out of their business offices without notice. Regus has defaulted on the rent to the main freehold landlord. The Regus tenants have been blocked access to their office for working. The bailiffs have blocked access. The tenants have their livelihoods at stake, Regus has known they would not meet the rent for many months and did not tell their tenants. Do not trust Regus UK. There are warnings everywhere on the web. Mark Dixon is the managing director, search for his name for the full story.

Regus Norway is a criminal organization, plain and simple.

They have destroyed, disappeared or sent back as undeliverable all our mail for the past eight months and charged us a huge fee for it.

I recently discovered thay are billing us three month in advance for the privilege of having our tax letters and supplier invoices disappear in a black hole.

Alf Astrup of Regus Oslo refuses to handle the issue. Five telephone calls and twenty emails did not solve the issue. We got some apologies, a few months free service was promised, and nothing changed. Any letter sent to our Regus mail forwarded address is returned as undeliverable.

Frank said...

I may have come down too hard on Regus - perhaps they are not a criminal organization - that remains to be seen - but at least they appear extremely incompetent.

Regus, on the apparent request of Alf Kjærheim Astrup, has issued me with a letter by their attorney, trying to bully me into remaining silent on this matter. I'll be updating you soon with a link to the whole story (and the very juicy letter they send me just now..)

Regus will destroy a new business. Don't do it. I'm speaking from experience. their flashy offices might seem awesome at first, but functionality will cost you big.

I signed a year lease with Regus at their Dadeland Datran building in Miami, Florida and was asked for a 2 month deposit. When asked, I was assured that my deposit was sacred. Now, not only did I received a bill from them, when I was expecting a check, but the amount is for more than 2/3 of what the deposit was. They claim there would be a fee at the end of the contact, but they never mention it would be for more than we were paying per month. I will never recommend Regus to anyone, nor ever rent from Regus again. I think others should be told, so that they do not keep taking advantage. They advertise two months free, but they charge you anyways. It is like having a license to steal.

Anonymous said...

I was on a virtual mail program only for a company in Portland for years. Regus purchased the contract and I proactively sent notice to cancel the contract on expiration to avoid Regus. But, Regus continues to bill me after the contract expired, continues to bill for services its not providing, and worst I have provided them with written and email communications about the cancellation well (2 months) before the contract expired. The contract I had with them required 30 days cancellation notice, but I guess the Regus folks believes that my contract automtically converted upon their purchase of the company to their contract. AVOID Regus. It's such a waste of time to spend hours of simple tasks.

Techno said...

Regus is rediculous.

They distract you while signing the contract, you will feel it is just 2-3 pages and you will think you read it but not correct.

Nobody will do business like this. They cheat you with very bad contract terms, business continuation terms, auto renewal terms should be discussed verbally. or should give chance to read the agreement. they distract you by telling you that so many other businesses like you came and did business.... stories. If you want to be in regus just prepared to loose 1000 dollars extra than expected. and one time auto renewal which is very forceful and increase in the rent as bonus help. No professional ethics, nobody knows who is area director, nobody knows who is responsible. Billings generated from some one who does know anything about what we discussed with center manager. Please guys let me know the way to get my business continuation money back. If you have any ideas. please help.

If you are SUING REGUS, CONTACT ME, I WANT IN!!!

You WILL be misled on the amenities. They have you sign a paper to "hold" the space, then, two days later, you get an email with charges that you were lead to believe were included. An example is: "Reception will greet your clients and can set your appointments"- yet an in-house phone is an ADDITIONAL $199./month and to set an appointment for you, they will charge $12. per 15 minutes (they are not forthcoming if they are charging per 15 minutes of interacting with your caller or 15 minute increments of your appointment.

They DID NOT include a copy of the sheet I was told to sign to "hold" the office, and the "manager" who wanted me to believe he was doing me big favors cabbed with me to the bank, got my down payment and dashed out the door leaving me there without so much as a nod. Which is when I noticed I just been had for nearly $800.

The next day I got the facing page I signed which did NOT give the terms and conditions of a rental agreement in a legal format. I told them I wanted out of the contract & they tried to drag on & on, trying to get me to have them paint the office and what-not.

Sue them.

Well, I have to agree with all these comments. Regus has no regard for customer service. I used Regus in Orlando for several years and always paid our bills. Recently, my credit card numbers changed and I forgot to tell Regus. I travel extensively for work. When Regus contacted me, I said I would take care or it when I got back from my travel (which would be just a few days after their "deadline"). Well, I was informed that the case would go to collections then because it is "out of their control" since the "system" automatically does this!! I was informed there would be a $49 "reinstatement fee". When I got back I called the center manager directly. He then demanded $99 as the fee -- telling me that the $49 fee is incorrect (what??). When I said I had it in writing, he said that didn't matter -- the "fee" is $99. I said I would gladly pay the $49 even though I didn't think they should charge that given the number of years we have done business with them. He said no its $99 or nothing and the matter will be sent to collections. I then found a letter from Regus asking for payment and a late fee -- far less than the $99. I sent them a cashier's cheque for the amount stated in their letter -- although after the due date in the letter since I had been traveling.

Well, they have now sent the matter to collections!!! They have cancelled our service and they still want us to pay the entire amount owing even for the months that they cancelled the service for -- in other words, they won’t provide the service and they still want to collect for it -- is that even legal???

I can't believe a company would do that for a client of several years over such a small amount of money!!!!

WOW!!

Look elsewhere for office space. They are NOT flexible and have built into their lease things such as giving 3 months notice of termination and auto renewal on a virutal office space lease to get you locked into more fees.

There are tons of other options out there. Take your money elsewhere and do yourself a favor.

Anonymous said...

Regus in Massachusetts is a shocking rip off. When your lease is up they try to tell you your lease auto renewed. Then Regus hits you for exit charges that were never specified in your contract such as $250 for painting your office and $200 a month for US postal mail forwarding even if you have forwarded your mail at the postoffice. And then it takes three months for them to return your deposit ... or what is left of it after they finish stealing hundreds of dollars from you. For a small business, stay away. They are a rip off. I have done business with many companies and this is the worst I have ever come across.
